Wonder Ball – Wonders&Worries – April 10

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Wonders & Worries, an Austin-based non-profit organization dedicated to helping children cope when parents or adult family members are fighting chronic or life-threatening illnesses, has announced its annual Wonder Ball daddy/daughter dance fundraiser April 10, 2010, from 6-9 p.m., at the Palmer Events Center. This year’s event features a “fairy tale” theme. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available, for more information, call 512.329.5757 or look online at http://www.wondersandworries.org/wonderball.html.

The Wonder Ball is a highly anticipated community event that gives fathers and daughters a magical evening complete with food, dancing, a wish-granting Fairy Godmother, two balloon lagoons, face painting and much more. This year, girls will enter an enchanting world inspired by beloved fairy tales. Tickets are $100 for one father (or father-figure) and up to three daughters.

According to Executive Director Meredith Cooper, the annual event is not only an opportunity to celebrate the bond between fathers and their daughters and raise money, but a chance to connect with the community. “We really want to educate people about how important it is to support children who have a parent or adult family member facing an illness that will change the family forever,” Cooper said. “We started Wonders & Worries specifically to address the unique needs of individual families and especially children who are particularly vulnerable to the complex emotions that come with the potential loss of a parent or adult loved one.”

How’s that for a real Texas deal?  Y’all love Texas? Well then you’ll love the 5th Annual DHR Gala—Saturday evening April 10th – with real Elgin barbecue catered by Southside Market, the Taste of Texas wine bar from Fall Creek Vineyards, and the fabulous Quebe Sisters Band, fiddles and harmony, heading a revival of real old fashioned Texas swing. We’ll have a silent auction with the best stuff ever, and a live auction that will dazzle you, as auctioneer Gayle Stallings takes the floor, auctioning great items, like five nights at the Ritz-Carlton, Aspen Highlands, Colorado.
